October 5 teacher's day was celebrated. On that day, an educational fair was organized at the Kaunas Cinema Center "Romuva", where teachers could see the tools used in educational workshops, hand-made animation dolls - a deer, a ladybug, Č. Chaplin. The teachers drew thaumatropes and examined the devices used in film illusion education - praxinoscope, zoetrope and phenakistoscope. The meeting was also full of conversations about cinema and the possible use of cinema education in the educational process.
At the education fair, teachers were presented with the newly published educational publication "I learn from the cinema" for the 2023-2024 school year. You can also read the online version of this publication (Click here).
Film educator Greta presented the creation of animation using the stop-motion technique. During education, students create a script for a short film, using stationery they create characters, background, props necessary for the story of the film. Using tablets and stop-motion apps, students take pictures of the characters. Animation is created from photos by combining frames into one moving image with the help of an app.
The teachers tested the zoetrope, a device that creates the illusion of animation. This device consists of a cylinder with vertical slits on the sides. A tape with a sequential sequence of images is placed inside the cylinder. When the cylinder is rotated, the sequence of images merges to create the illusion of movement.
