Screening of the film "Irena" for schoolchildren and discussion with director Giedre Žickytė

The Romuva Film Center invites students in grades 9–12 to an exclusive screening of the documentary film "Irena" on November 28, followed by a discussion of the film with director Giedre Žickytė.

The film is a sensitive tribute to the prominent Lithuanian cultural figure Irena Veisaitė by director Giedrė Žickytė, who created the internationally acclaimed "Jump". Having survived the Holocaust, losing loved ones, but not succumbing to hatred, Irena Veisaitė chose forgiveness, dialogue and love, becoming an inspiration to many.

Director Giedre Zickyte

"Something resonates and you discover a hero. It's like the sum total of life and its experiences – I stop at what interests me. After all, a film is a very long journey – five years of your life. So you carefully evaluate who you would like to spend those years with and what you want to devote all your time and thoughts to. First of all, it has to be interesting and important to the creator himself.", – says director Giedrė Žickytė.

This personal film is not only a historical testimony, but also a reminder in these turbulent times of how one person's attitude can change the world. It invites us to rethink the importance of humanity, empathy, and dialogue.
