We invite students in grades 9-12 to a special screening of the film "The American Dream," followed by a discussion about basketball, sports journalism, and the power of true stories with sports journalist Jonas Miklov. This is an inspiring story about two underdogs who, despite their circumstances, pursue their dreams and find their way into the world of professional basketball.
Movie description
Jeremy spends his days behind the counter of a video store, a world far removed from the American basketball courts he admires on videotapes. Meanwhile, Buna cleans an airport, confined to the place by poor prospects and a constantly dropping internet connection. At first glance, it doesn't seem like they're destined to break into the competitive world of professional basketball - let alone dominate it. From the filmmakers of The Untouchables comes the incredible true story of two underdogs who overcame all odds to pursue their American dream.
