Visionary architect László Tóth, a Holocaust survivor, flees war-torn Europe in hopes of building a new life in America. After a series of trials, life finally begins to improve when his long-lost wife Erzsébet and niece Zsófia arrive from Europe, and a mysterious and wealthy client, Harrison Van Buren, commissions László to design a grand modernist monument. The most ambitious project of his architectural career will not only take him and his wife to dizzying heights, but will also make him question the promise of the American dream.
