The aesthetic, subtle and sophisticated French film "Gourmet Passion" takes the viewer to 1885 and tells the story of the incomparable chef Doden Buffan and his student and colleague Eugenia. More than 20 years ago, Eugenija (actress Juliette Binoche) entered Doden's (actress Benoît Magimelis) kitchen for the first time. The curious and talented teenager quickly learned the secrets of the kitchen and gradually became an equal partner to her teacher.
While searching for new recipes, trying new flavors and preparing promising dishes that fascinate the most discerning and respected chefs in the world, not only the mutual respect of Eugenia and Doden grows, but also their sympathy for each other, eventually turning into a passionate romantic relationship.
Realizing that he loves Eugenia, Doden proposes to her. However, a woman who highly values freedom and independence rejects his offer. In order to win the heart of his beloved, Doden decides to do something he has never done before: cook for her.
