22:00 p.m. – Welcome with a cup of Japanese tea and dessert;
22:30 p.m. – story about the characters (30 min.);
23:00 p.m. – movie screening.
ATTENTION! Venue: NKDT Small Stages Yard (Kęstučio St. 62). In case of unfavorable weather (strong wind, rain), the event will move to the Great Hall of the "Romuva" cinema (Laisvės al. 54).
For one evening, the Romuva outdoor cinema will transport you to a world where flying castles, mysterious wizards and incredible creatures become reality. Before the screening, the event's friends "Jaukūs namai" will treat the audience to a cup of Japanese green tea and a small dessert, and VMU lecturer Kristina Barancovaitė-Skindaravičienė will briefly introduce the tradition of Japanese fantasy characters and its traces in modern pop culture. The evening will be crowned by one of the most beloved animated classics from Studio Ghibli - Hayao Miyazaki's film "Howl's Moving Castle".
About the movie. The film centers on Sofia, a young girl who is transformed into an old woman by the spell of an evil witch. In her search for salvation, she finds herself in the mysterious wizard Howl's Moving Castle - a living, ever-changing house that wanders through a war-torn land. This journey becomes a guiding thread not only in an attempt to break the curse, but also in discovering a world where magic, danger and tender human relationships intertwine in a unique adventure.
The film was created by legendary Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki and the prestigious animation studio Studio Ghibli. Howl's Moving Castle is considered one of Ghibli's most prominent films - combining the wonders of fantasy, sensitive character transformations and the creator's characteristic anti-war message. Visually stunning animation, Joe Hisaishi's music and Miyazaki's unique narrative tone have led to the film gaining international recognition and becoming an integral classic of modern animation.
About "Cozy Homes". The salon operating in Kaunas is a space where the aesthetics of Japanese minimalism, tea drinking traditions and modern comfort are intertwined. For the past 11 years, a bridge between Lithuania and Japan has been purposefully being built here: in Lithuania, Japanese culture is presented, and in Japan, Lithuania, Kaunas and Čijūnė Sugihara are presented.
