We will traditionally welcome Midsummer Eve at the Romuva outdoor cinema by weaving wreaths of fresh flowers, and after the sun sets, a fire dance performance will create a festive mood. Later, we will invite you to a screening of the film "The Fish of My Life". Tim Burton's story about a life shrouded in legends, love and faith in miracles naturally blends into the mysterious atmosphere of the shortest night of the year.
Young journalist William Bloom has not communicated with his father Edward Bloom for three years, but after learning that he is seriously ill, he returns home. As a child, William fervently believed in his father's stories that happened to him in his childhood. His father loved to remember how he was not afraid of a witch with a glass eye, his friendship with the giant Karl, who became an honorary citizen of the town, he told about the strange poet Winslow, who lived in a magical village, about working in a circus led by the half-werewolf Amos. These and many other stories took William's breath away then, now they seem like just his father's fantasies. However, is it possible to find the line where fantasy ends and reality begins? Is it possible to get to know his father again?
The 2003 film is considered one of the most prominent examples of modern magical realism in cinema. Nominated for four Oscars, the work is one of director Tim Burton's warmest and most emotional works, in which fantasy motifs intertwine with a sensitive story about family ties, memory, and the power of storytelling.
