The focus of these camps is the creation of a single animated film using the stop motion technique. Children will not only learn how animation is created, but will also become its creators themselves. First, they will create a story together: generate ideas, discuss characters, environment, mood, and refine the plot. Later, they will make characters from cardboard, create decorations, and learn how movement “comes to life” frame by frame. By taking photos and carefully changing the positions of the characters, participants will experience how a coherent story is born from numerous photos. The creative process will allow children to get to know different film professions up close – director, screenwriter, artist, animator, sound designer – and understand that a film is a team effort.
The program also includes film screenings ("The Brave of the Night", "Tales from the Secret Garden", "Nina's Story"). After the screenings, children will discuss the stories they have seen: they will analyze the characters' choices, emotions, discuss the mood of the film, and the expression of the image and sound. Such discussions help develop critical thinking, the ability to argue and listen to the opinions of others.
During the camp, there will also be a tour of the cinema - participants will learn about the history of "Romuva", learn what makes this cinema special for Kaunas, how its activities have changed over time, and what goes on behind the doors of the cinema. This is an opportunity to get to know cinema as a part of culture and the history of the city.
The camps will take place during the following times:
April 1-3, 2026, daily from 10:00 a.m. to 15:00 p.m.
During the camp, participants will only be offered light snacks - juice and cookies, so we invite you to bring your favorite snacks according to your needs. If necessary, there will be an opportunity to warm up the food you brought on site.
