The Eight Mountains

This is a story about friendship. When two boys grow up, they avoid the wise paths of their parents, but despite the detours, they always return home. Pietro (Luca Marinelli) grew up in the city, while Bruno (Alessandro Borghi) was the last child of a village sinking into oblivion. Bruno is loyal to his mountain origin, while Pietra keeps going out into the world and coming back. Over the years, they keep meeting, together they experience love, loss, and reflect on their roots. Although their destinies are different, they both know what it means to have a friend for life.

The film is full of visual metaphors that will help you understand the bond between friends even better and will ask apt universal questions about the flow of life, transience and meaning. How many mountains will you have to overcome before you reach the peak you are climbing? "Eight Mountains" is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Italian writer Paolo Cognetti.
