Freud's Last Session

12-21 13:30 Great hall

in 1939 in September, a couple of days after the beginning of the Second World War, Oxford professor and writer CS Lewis (actor Matthew Goode) arrives at the house of Sigmund Freud (actor Anthony Hopkins) at the invitation of the famous psychoanalyst. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the existence of God. CS Lewis, now considered one of the most prominent exponents of Christian symbolism in literature, was a firm believer in the reality of God. The cynical dissector of human psychology Z. Freud denies God no less passionately.

As befits such intellectual giants, their conversations are not limited to God alone, of course. Looking for answers and arguments to defend their position, both men begin to delve into the personal and painful aspects of each other's lives. Freud's maniacal tendency to control everyone and everything comes to the surface - not excluding the real daughter, who (albeit already an adult) can no longer live without her father. For his part, CS Lewis is forced, albeit reluctantly, to talk about his romantic relationship with his best friend's mother and to remember the horrors of the First World War.

Reality, memories, past and fantasy - everything intertwines in this intellectual confrontation between two great actors, incarnated as two giants of human history.
