Original language: Lithuanian

The documentary "Rūta" is a very close look at one of the most beloved and most accomplished Lithuanian athletes, Rūta Meilutytė. In the film, viewers will see not only how R. Meilutytė prepared for the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, but also her own and her family's stories about her childhood, the difficult path to Olympic gold in London and unheard details of her life. The documentary also talks about the difficult period after the unsuccessful competition in Rio de Janeiro, when Ruta was even offered to leave professional sports and start a family.

According to film critic Ilona Vitkauskaitė, the filmmakers do not heroize Meilutytė, but by showing Rūta's grueling training routine, everyday life, they reveal her work ethic, character, maturity and complete dedication to sports.
