Actualisation of the cultural heritage object of Kaunas Cinema Centre Romuva
Kaunas Cinema Centre Romuva is implementing the project "Actualisation of the cultural heritage object of Kaunas Cinema Centre Romuva by bringing it to active life, optimising it and raising the quality of services".
The project is implemented from the funds of the European Union Regional Development Fund.
Cinema Centre Romuva is the only one of the interwar Kaunas cinemas that has survived and preserved its main functions, the building of which is a cultural heritage object protected by the state. During the project, the cultural heritage object Romuva cinema centre, built in 1940 and located in the centre of Kaunas, Laisvės al. 54, was renovated. Project activities: renovation of the cultural heritage object, purchase of equipment and furniture. The planned activities contributed to the solution of the problem of protection of cultural heritage, development of cultural events, increase in quality, accessibility and diversity, in order to attract additional visitor flows and to increase public interest in Lithuanian cultural heritage.
The project activities increased the number of film screenings highlighting the heritage, educational activities, cultural events (concerts, performances) and excursions. The aim of the project is to preserve and reveal the valuable features of the Romuva Cinema Centre as a cultural heritage object and to increase the quality, accessibility and variety of existing services in order to attract additional visitor flows and increase public interest in Lithuanian cultural heritage.
During the implementation of the project, it was planned to achieve the following results:
1. Completed heritage maintenance and construction (reconstruction) works in the cultural heritage object located at Laisvės al. 54, Kaunas. During the project, the following works were performed: renovation of the building, maintenance works (maintenance of the south, east, north, west façades, first floor), management construction works (building structures, general construction works, interior decoration, replacement of windows, doors, installation of a lift, mobile ramp, installation of acoustics, electricity, fire alarm system, computer networks, heat station, heating, ventilation, sewage, water supply), outdoor engineering networks (water supply networks).
2. Engineering services procured: building surveys and their summarisation, building design proposals, preparation of technical design document, technical design expertise (general and special), technical supervision of the works, FIDIC engineer and supervision of the execution of the structural design.
3. Purchased equipment and furniture for organizing cultural services. Purchased equipment: stage machinery (1 set), stage clothing/drapery (1 set), stage effect lighting equipment (1 set), audio systems (1 set), cinema technology equipment (1 set), additional equipment (1 set).
During the project, a spacious stage suitable for dance, theater, music performances and conferences was installed in the Great Hall, 215 modern seats were installed, new sound and lighting equipment was installed, behind the scenes there were make-up and dressing rooms. A completely new Chamber Hall with 49 seats and the possibility of transformation and a modern classroom for educational activities have been installed.
The project is partly financed by the 2014-2020 European Union Funds Investment Operational Programme Priority 5 "Environment, sustainable use of natural resources and adaptation to climate change", implementing measure 05.4.1-CPVA-R-302 "Updating municipal cultural heritage objects".
