Still this year, on December 15, the satirical comedy with Nicolas Cage, who created one of the strongest roles in his career, will hit the cinemas. "Dream Scenario" (Dream scenario) is a story about a completely unremarkable teacher who became famous all over the world overnight.
The hero of the film, professor Paul Matthews, played by Nicolas Cage, is simply a very unremarkable person, boring even to his wife and children, let alone the students. However, it is enough for him to play in their dreams, and the audience is full. True, the story does not end with students - Paul is dreamed of by millions all over the world, he becomes a star overnight. Unfortunately, popularity begins to wane just as quickly.
"The fact that Paul's character is invisible, and we chose Cage to play him, became quite a challenge. We had to try not to distract the actor with his presence on the set. He himself decided that Paul would be bald, and I also put a fake nose on him - just to make him as insignificant and unrecognizable as possible", recalls the director of the young generation, Kristoffer Borgli. This Norwegian is well known to those who have seen the satirical comedy "Bloga od svove". Both of these films are essentially social critiques of modern society, so they appeal to a very wide audience around the world.
Cage himself says that he was interested in the script for this film precisely because he knows the price of strange, hard-to-predict online fame. The actor had already created legendary roles in films like Two-Face (Face / Off) or "Prisoner Plane" (Con Air), and still became the target of meme creators. In fact, Cage was one of the first victims of the meme subculture, and he didn't like it very much.
Cage's latest work is called the renaissance of his career and a real gem of comedy. Critics have even compared the film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this September, to Spike Jonze's cult film Being John Malkovich (Being John Malkovich), and predicts her awards season success. By the way, there were discussions to trust Adam Sandler with the main role in "Dream Scenario". He also plays in the film Julianne Nicholson, Michael Cera, Tim Meadows, Dylan Gelula and Dylan Baker.
