Return to Seoul

During VMU Asia Week, the Kaunas Film Center "Romuva" invites you to discover four bright films: Wim Wenders' poetic film "Great Days" (Japan), Davy Chou's personal identity search drama "Return to Seoul" (France, South Korea), Hirokazu Kore- "Monster" (Japan) and Celine Song's lyrical love story "Past Lives" (South Korea, USA) have a sensitive story that you can unravel for yourself.

Fredi, a twenty-five-year-old Parisian, embarks on another adventure - she flies alone to Seoul, South Korea for a couple of weeks. Fredi doesn't know anything about this country, even though she comes from it: she was adopted and taken to France when she was still a baby. Thus begins a headlong adventure in search of one's roots. This personal journey takes you through restrained Korean villages, raucous metropolitan nightclubs, lost in translation and wordless conversations. The film, which examines the connections and issues of identity in the modern world, was presented in the "Special Look" program of the Cannes Film Festival.
