After being released from prison, Arthur returns to a small town in Tuscany, where a carnival-like gang of grave robbers awaits him, ruthlessly looting millennia-old Etruscan tombs and selling the historical artifacts they find on the black market. Arthur, an Englishman, once a respectable archeologist, has a special talent for finding ancient burial sites. Lost between the worlds of the living and the dead, he searches for treasures beyond the reach of human eyes, along with his lost beloved Benjamin.

Alice Rohrwacher's film universe intertwines reality, myth, fairy tale, rich Italian folklore and cinematic traditions. In the director's latest film "Chimera", the viewer will recognize this already formed unique film language. The director is not afraid to juggle genres, moods, film formats. Pursuing a narrative thread, it combines a melancholic story of lost love, physical comedy and a philosophical parable about life and death, present and past, the flow of time and the traces of history. The film premiered in Cannes.
